us for a presentation on OneSTL, sponsored by ASME and ASCE. OneSTL is a regional framework for sustainable development that citizens,
non-profit organizations, businesses, and local governments can use to make
better use of resources and meet the needs and aspirations of residents. The
presentation will focus on the structure of the plan, resources available
through the OneSTL website, and next steps East-West Gateway and partners are
taking to implement the plan. Additionally, attendees will be asked to engage
in a discussion about the information presented and where improvements can be
made from the perspective of engineering professionals. 1 PDH will be offered.

The
presenters will be Aaron Young and David Wilson from the East-West Gateway
Council of Governments.
Aaron Young
is the Sustainability Planning Manager at East-West Gateway Council of
Governments. He has worked at East-West
Gateway since 2010 and was the project manager for the St. Louis regional plan
for sustainable development - OneSTL.
Prior to
East-West Gateway, Aaron work for 11 years in the private sector as a planning
consultant. He participated as a team member on a variety of projects including
municipal comprehensive plans, greenway and open space plans, corridor plans
and studies, joint land use studies and county-wide plans.
Aaron has a
Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois
at Champaign/Urban and GIS Certificate from Northwest Missouri State
University. He sits on the Board of
Directors of the St. Louis Section of the American Planning Association and is
a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
David Wilson is Senior
Manager, Environment and Community Planning, East-West Gateway Council of
Governments), where he has worked since 2002. In his professional life, he has
balanced three distinct but overlapping interests – in the quality of our
environment, the quality of our local government and planning and the quality
of education - especially experiential education and leadership development.
Since 2010
David has worked on OneSTL, a regional plan for sustainable development.
David also
chairs the Water Resources Committee at East-West Gateway and served on
planning committees for several other watershed based plans. David is co-editor
of At the Confluence: Rivers, Floods and Water Quality in the St. Louis
Region, 2003.
David
currently serves on the Board of Directors of St. Louis Earth Day. He is past
president of the St. Louis Metropolitan Section of the American Planning
Association and has served on the Missouri State Chapter Executive Board of the
APA.
